Amfora '24 - Cococciola (IT)

Cococciola is not a grape most people know by name, which is exactly what makes this wine worth getting to know. Grown organically in Italy, the 2024 fruit is left on its skins and fermented in amphora, the ancient clay vessels that let a wine breathe gently as it develops, without a trace of new oak or added flavor. What comes out is a deep amber wine with real presence, dried apricot and orange peel on the nose, a touch of honey and wild herbs, and a palate that's textured and savory rather than sweet. A light grip of tannin, borrowed from the skins, gives it a structure closer to a light red than a typical white, while the fruit keeps it fresh and alive. It's a wine for people who want their glass to say something.
