The Pfalz is south of Mosel and the Nahe; two other top riesling regions in Germany. Compared to the other regions, however, grapes from Pfalz are very different. The densely forested Haardt Mountains in Pfalz provide a rain shadow over the region, resulting in a relatively warm, dry climate, which gives a more rich and ripe flavour in the wine, yet still with exceptional acidity and a rocky type of minerality.

This riesling was made using traditional methods with grapes grown by our partner Johannes Bangerth in the German Pfalz, and then with the profile of our urban winery. It was fermented and aged for 6 months in French oak barrels. This wine is great to drink now, but thanks to its high acidity it has great cellar possibilities and can get even better up to 2 years after its harvest, if stored correctly.
