Sweet Moscatel '22 (ES)

This 2022 Moscatel is our first fortified wine, made in the traditional style for white muscat grapes grown conventionally in Priorat by Roger Grifoll Declara. After controlled fermentation in stainless steel and a period of maturing and aging, we enriched the wine by adding alcohol and concentrated grape sugar, the classic method for building a fortified dessert wine. The result lands at 15 percent alcohol, medium-full and sweet, with a bright straw yellow color, inviting citrus aromas, and just enough balanced acidity to keep it feeling fresh rather than heavy.

Its honeyed sweetness and citrus lift make it a natural match for a good blue cheese, where the pull between salt and sugar is the whole point, and it slips just as easily beside vanilla ice cream or a bowl of ripe stone fruit. Serve it well chilled at the end of a meal, in place of dessert rather than alongside it.
