TASTING NOTES
This wine displays a soft, light purple hue and offers an enticing blend of aromas. You'll savor delightful notes of blackberries with a touch of spices, licorice, and black olives, along with hints of black currants and a subtle trace of vanilla. The taste is robust, featuring a combination of spices, black fruit, tobacco, and oak.

ABOUT THE GRAPE
Garnacha, better known as Grenache in France, is a versatile grape variety. In the French Rhône Valley, Grenache plays a prominent role in famous blends like Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, and Vacqueyras. In Spain's Priorat, Garnacha is the star of red wines. Priorat wines garner worldwide admiration and are often considered Spain's "Grand Cru." The region even has its own classification system, known as "DOQ Priorat" (Denominación de Origen Qualificada), indicating the highest wine quality. This led us to explore the region, where we encountered Roger Grifoll Declara, who provided us with the finest Garnacha grapes for our Mayor's Choice wine.

VIVINO RATING
3,8 / 57 reviews

One of the most remarkable wine regions in Spain is Priorat. Situated in Catalonia, Priorat has built an impressive reputation in the wine world over the past few decades. This small wine region is renowned for its exceptional red wines and has a unique relationship with the Garnacha grape, which plays a central role here. One of the most distinctive features of Priorat wines is the utilization of the Garnacha grape. This grape variety has deep roots in Priorat, thriving on the schist-rich soil and benefiting from the region's unique Mediterranean climate.

This garnacha was made using traditional methods with grapes grown by our partner Roger Grifoll Declara in Priorat, Spain. It was aged for 6 months in French oak barrels. This wine is great to drink now, but can get even better up to 3 years after its harvest, if stored correctly.

Grilled steaks, lamb chops, spicy sausages, game such as duck, deer, or wild boar, paella, tomato-based stews, various tapas, and aged cheeses like manchego, parmesan, or blue cheese.

It's best to serve this wine between 16-18°C (60-64°F). At this temperature, the flavors and aromas are at their finest.
