Guinevere's Crown'21

Furmint is an early-budding yet late-ripening grape. The grape variety originated in the Tokaj region (pronounced toe-kay) of north-eastern Hungary, and still today furmint is commonly associated with sweet Tokaji wines. We decided to get our furmint grapes from neighbouring Slovenia instead. And rather than sweet, we opted for a more dry wine. Up until only a decade or so ago, dry furmints were almost unknown, but one sip of our Guinevere’s Crown and you’ll understand why we wanted to make it like this.

This wine was made using traditional methods with grapes grown by the Puklavec Family Vineyards in Podravje, Slovenia. It was aged for 3 months in French oak barrels. The barrel ageing has helped to somewhat tame the natural acidity of the grapes, and it has added some body, creaminess, and roundness to the wine.

A crown that adds elegance to any event, like only crowns can. The addicting combo of refreshment and expression makes this one of those wines you always want to have at hand. This is a very good sea fish wine, but it also goes perfectly with foods like chicken, rich salad, good as an apero, crayfish, lobster, sole with butter sauce.
