Medium-bodied spätburgunder with flavours of juicy red apple, fleshy plum and a handful of strawberries.

 

Fantastic Mr. Fox '20

Pfalz is not just Germany’s second biggest wine region but also part of Germany’s wine route (with the lovely name ‘Weinstrasse’). Famous for its Riesling grapes but experimental as we are - we went for Spätburgunder grapes from this region.

Fermentation on stainless steel tanks, then aged on French oak barrels for 12 months.

This is a food loving wine. It goes perfectly with grilled fish and smoked meat. Best served slightly chilled.

Eye: ruby red, deep intensity
Nose: forest fruit, leather, tobacco, black pepper
Mouth: black fruit, dried figs, chocolate, walnuts
Finish: low in tannins
Identity: medium-bodied spätburgunder
